Jason och Amanda lämnar CMA i protest

Efter CMA 2020 nyligen har mycket kritik riktas mot galan. Tre under året avlidna hyllades; Kenny Rogers, Charlie Daniels och Mac Davis. Men John Prine, Jerry Jeff Walker och Billy Joe Shaver nämndes inte. Det har fått Jason Isbell och Amanda Shires att skicka tillbaka sina livstidsmedlemskap. Och Sturgill Simpson och Margo Price är väldigt kritiska mot galan.

»Due to @CountryMusic ’s failure to mention John Prine, Jerry Jeff Walker, and Billy Joe Shaver at the CMA’s last night, @amandashires and I have decided to return our membership cards. I doubt anybody will care, but we cared a lot about our heroes« skriver en ilsken Jason Isbell på Twitter.

Enligt Pitchfork skrev Sturgill Simpson så här: "“Don’t get it twisted…wouldn’t be caught dead at this tacky ass glitter and botox cake & cock pony show even if my chair had a morphine drip. I just wanted to see if they would say his name but nope.” Simpson raderade sedan sitt inlägg.

Även Margo Price är upprörd. Hon skriver på Twitter: “Anyone still participating is a socially unconscious pawn,” och “Artists pander woke authenticity when it benefits them and then sit in silence as they collect their plastic trophies. Also the music sucks.”
