Rhino Records pakker inn 90-tallet
Datum: 2005-07-21
Rhino Records, universelt anerkjent som leverandører av de ultimate CD-boksene, har tidligere sluppet to såkalte Pop Culture-samlinger; »Have A Nice Decade: The ´70s Pop Culture Box« og »Like, Omigod: The ´80s Pop Culture Box (totally)«.
Her følger Rhinos egne salgsargumenter:
From parachute-pant-rappers and bedroom beatmakers, to grunge guys and riot-grrrls, the ’90s music scene offered a little something for everyone. This month Rhino salutes the decade that brought us all to the millennium with the ever-evolving styles and memorable songs on the definitive 7-CD compilation Whatever: The ’90s Pop & Culture Box.
The first collection to present this decade’s musical creation and evolution, Whatever includes radio regulars and chart-toppers like Boyz II Men, Collective Soul, Hanson, and Sarah McLachlan alongside such genre-changing artists as rapper Queen Latifah, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Pantera, and Busta Rhymes. This 130-song collection also features such Lollapalooza faves as Primus and The Flaming Lips, Brit-pop sensation Oasis, one-of-a-kind artists like Sinead O’Connor and Moby, and even the theme song to Friends. As a time capsule of pop’s most recent past, you really “can’t touch this.”
Following in the wacky packaging tradition of Rhino’s previous limited edition Pop Culture boxes, Whatever: The ’90s Pop & Culture Box boasts a clear plastic flat bag of coffee beans secured by a thermal sleeve bearing an array of zeitgeist-capturing faux corporate logos. Inside, an extensive 84-page book with essays, track-by-track info, cultural commentary, photographs, and timeline thoroughly documents the decade. Even if you are too sexy for your shirt, you’ll want to pick up this amazing box.
