Mark Twain var americana

Det går an å hevde at forfatteren Mark Twain (eg. Samuel Langhorne Clemmens), som levde fra 1835 til 1910, er en åndelig grunnlegger av musikken vi kaller americana.
Produsenten/ musikeren Carl Jackson vil antakelig gå god for denne påstanden, han står bak utgivelsen »Mark Twain: Words and Music«, i samarbeid med Mark Twain Boyhood Home & Museum i Hannibal, Missouri.
Der historien om Twain veves sammen med sanger.
Mark Twains stemme ivaretas av Clint Eastwood, Jimmy Buffet er hans litterære kreasjon Huck Finn, Angela Lovell er hans kone, Suzy Clemmens, og Garrison Keilor er forteller.
På sangersiden bidrar bl.a. Emmylou Harris, Rhonda Vincent, Brad Paisley, Sheryl Crow, Vince Gill og Ricky Skaggs.
