The Blasters er definitivt et av bandene som definerer hva som menes med Americana. Det holder med å høre deres egen sang »American Music« fra Slashdebuten.

Derfor er det alltid interessant å notere seg hva musikerne fra The Blasters foretar seg (Dave Alvin slipper nytt album i juni).

»The cynic in me would say that all you really need to know about this disc is that it opens with “Rock And Roll Will Stand” and closes with “Marie, Marie” sixteen songs later. But let’s review: this newly discovered live set finds the original band (Dave, Phil, John & Bill) in all of their Americana-Rockabilly glory delivering a set list that more than defines what American music is. It is the sum total of everything that came before, and no other band delivers that music better than this band in their prime. They blend in a few covers along side their rich songbook that never gets old. It just gets more seminal as time passes by. As someone who saw them live several times this is as good a representation of what it was like as you’ll find. American music and then some on this smoking’ hot set.«
