M.C. Records is a true independent, artist friendly, roots label. We strive to present recordings with foundations in the past and a desire to move the music forward. The following is from the liner notes of The Best of M.C. Records 1996-2002 written by the president of M.C. Records, Mark Carpentieri: In 1995 my wife Catherine and I went to see the fabulous Big Jack Johnson at The Bayou in Westchester New York. He blew us away with his energy, guitar playing and unique approach to the blues. On top that of that he was a good man. We decided then and there more people needed to hear Big Jack and that desire drove the launch of our record business. In June of 1996 we released Big Jack's first new CD in four years We Got To Stop This Killin'. Since then we have had two grammy nominations a dozen W.C. Handy Nominations, a handful of Living Blues nominations and more. I've had the pleasure to record some of my musical heroes and participate in some outstanding recordings. So far it's been a great ride and with your support we can keep it going.
