Stitt, Sonny - Just The Way It Was: Live At The Left Bank

Baltimore’s Left Bank Jazz Society is one of the most enduring jazz organizations in this country’s history. Beginning in the 1960s, and extending through the century, Left Bank regularly hosted concert performances for jazz’s greatest artists. Sonny Stitt Just The Way It Was: Live At The Left Bank documents just such an occasion. Recorded March 21, 1971 at The Famous Ballroom in Baltimore, MD, Stitt is captured with his working quartet of the period that features Don Patterson on organ and Billy James on drums. The group delivers riveting performances that brilliantly frame Stitt’s saxophone mastery on standout cuts such as “Deuces Wild,» “Blues Up & Down« and “Cry Me A River.” And the audience responds in kind with ecstatic fervor. Sonny Stit Just The Way It Was is a must have for jazz fans, and an invaluable treasure for Stitt fanatics.
