The View from Here offers ten instrumental songs, all displaying Flinner's virtuosic flair with the mandolin. Though all the tracks are contemporary folk-based, some intriguing influences manage to creep in, from jazz, swing and Celtic music. Producer Todd Phillips gives Flinner room to roam, and the other players on the recording provide clean accompaniment.
