There’s something beautiful and innocent about the band name Blue Sky Forever. And it’s a name that indeed reflects the music on the Blue Sky Forever debut album, “One”.

Blue Sky Forever is Lars Norén and Tomas Larsson from Gothenburg, Sweden. They tell their story behind their first album:

- We’ve been playing together for about four years. We met on a regular basis to play and eventually our sessions grew into songs and arrangements.

- After a while we started to records. We did one track for a compilation album released by Dusty Records. We got good reactions and that turned us in a country kind of directions. The recording process has been a revelation, it became clear to us what kind of music we wanted to create.

The music you hear is timeless. The songs might just as well been written today or 30 or 50 years ago. The cultural and geographical identity of the music is also unclear. Are the songs from the Appalachians or the West Coast of Sweden? You can hear Carter Family as well as Scandinavian folk tradition.

- We really like when you change from G to D. I think it’s got something to do with that we both relate to traditions. That is music that we have listened to, played and felt were important. Country music, whatever that is, has been an important part of out lives. These chords correspond with the melodies. It’s there in the songs of Zions sånger and the Swedish folk tradition as well. There is something familiar in this deceptively simple way of relating to music. Even music with it’s roots far away, like country, feels natural to play. If it is country we’re playing. We’re not sure.

Even if ”One” is the debut album from Blue Sky Forever, both Lars Norén and Tomas Larsson have been making music for many year. Tomas used to play in the Swedish country band Pilgrim and produced their album. But now Blue Sky Forever is the main priority for both of them.
