In the spring of 2015, after 5 albums and hundreds of gigs in 6 years, OK Star Orchestra took a much needed and well deserved break. But after a few months, guitarist Tommy Galento Nilsson and drummer Perry Vallgren realized that they couldn't stay away from the music and soon they were back in the studio, working on new beats. Bass player Carl Greder joined them and Star Family was born.
In many ways Star Family continues on the path chosen by OK Star Orchestra, but still different enough to motivate the change of band name. The music is still as eclectic and hard to put a tag on, but in a way than OK Star. If you want to simplify, you could say that Star Family leans more towards rock than world music. More funk than folk. More America than Africa.
