Diluted Roots

The second Six String Yada album is here. »Diluted Roots« is in many ways a straigt follow up to the acclaimed debut album »The Shape of Yada to Come«. The new album offers the sam irresistable mix of traditional old time-classics, original songs and some, somewhat surprising, contemporary covers. This time we get to experience old time versions of Queen of the Stone Age's »No One Knows« and the crust punk-band Disfear's »Fear and Trembling«.
Another strange bird in the tracklist is the New Orleans classic »Iko Iko«. Six String Yada make the song their own, while they happily admit that they don't have a clue what they are singing,
On the other hand, they know very well what they're singing about in their own »Bereft and Blind«, dedicated to Showan Shattak, who got beat up badly by neo-nazists in Malmö 2014.
»Deluted Roots« was recorded really fast. One day of rehearsal and two days recording. More or less all tracks are recorded live in studio - no overdubs. The one exception is »Trouble in Mind« where the friends and collegues from Good Harvest added vocals a few days after the actual recording.
Recording live in studio was a deliberate choice by Six String Yada. The Six String Yada credo: »Music, much like other things in life, can lose its meaning, purpose and enjoyment when it's perfect. You can become so overwhelmed by playing right that you forget why you are playing in the first place, probably, and hopefully, because it's fun. We're playing because of that reason and that reason only!«
Six String Yada is:
Agnes Brogeby - fiddle, gutar, vocals
Erling Bronsberg - banjo, vocals
Jonas Bleckman - cello, vocals
Simon Nyberg - guitar, vocals
