It's almost impossible to avoid. When you try to describe Yonder and their music, you sooner or later end up rambling about wine that aged well over the years or slow food. Or even worse, soul food. And when Yonder now decided to name their new album »Graftings« it's tempting to write about grafted fruit trees and sun ripe fruits. But we've been there before and will not go there again. Yonder deserves better.
On »Graftings« Yonder further developes the musical foundation, already established on their 2007 debut album. Pre.war country blues, gospel and old time mixed with some Swedish folk and some contemporary influences. A pretty staright forward reciepe really (maybe except the Swedish Folk part). But here's the trick: never once, while listening to Yonder, you think »oh, this is a pretty good blues band« or »cool, they can play some traditional folk music as well«. No, it's Yonder music all the way and they take you to a universe of their own.
