The Future
(Lo-Max Records)
Price: 149 SEK
Simon Lynge is an acclaimed singer and an eskimo raised in the tundras and steppes of Greenland. The Future is his debut album and was produced by Matt Forger who engineered Michael Jackson's Thriller and Bad albums.
Two songs from this album have already been used in adverts and a third »Love Comes Back To You« has been used in its entirety in the latest American Pie film. This will be the single from the album and is expected to do well at radio. Simon is touring the UK to promote the release and the press reaction has been very positive. The Times wrote that »Lynge could be this year’s José González.«
Lynge was a shepherd as a child and did not attend school. He was exposed to music and storytelling by his multitalented father Karl, who played accordion and worked with Eskimo folklore in the Tukak Theatre Group. As a teenager, Lynge enrolled in the Holstebro Music Conservatory in Denmark, where his passion for music led him to study the guitar and songwriting, and he quickly found himself co-writing and performing with the leading lights of the Copenhagen songwriting scene. He travelled to Los Angeles where Matt Forger heard him performing and offered to record an album with him bringing in some of LA's greatest players all of whom gave their time for free. Lo-Max saw Simon performing in LA and signed him to a worldwide deal.
Simon toured the UK for the first time in the autumn of 2009 to unanimously enthusiastic notices and in December he was invited to perform on Denmark’s biggest Christmas TV show. He has also just played at the Sundance Film Festival. Things are moving fast for Simon - he will doing a UK tour kicking off on May 19th with NYC Indie-Pop singer Ingrid Michaelson.
