We are very proud to announce the release of Mother James new album on the Rootsy label! ”Brute Noir” is Mother James second album and it will be released March 24.

With ”Brute Noir” Mother James unleashes the untamed blues rhythms of the street in the 21st century in a modern and explosive fashion. The music is inspired by the New Orleans sound and can be described as an orgy in raw jazz horns, shout vocals, brothel pianos and blasphemous gospel. The stomp is compelling and there’s no way of avoiding the beat!

”Brute Noir” is produced by Per Nordmark (Fireside, Breach) and mixed in Studio Dubious (Håkan Hellström, Moneybrother) by Max-Måns Wikman.

Among the musicians you’ll find Bebe Risenfors (Tom Waits, Elvis Costello) och Clas Lassbo (Miss Li).

Mother James debut album ”Stomping Grounds” (2008) was praised by the critics and even found the band a fan in the great Quentin Tarantino! Since then Mother James has done two successful European tours and about thirty gigs in Sweden.

”Stomping Grounds” was released in the U.S. and Canada by Zip Records/SonyRed in June 2009.
